Course Description

Saxon Math 5/4 helps students extend their understanding of critical skills and concepts such as number sense, numeration, measurement and geometry, patterns, relationships, and charts. Most importantly it builds fluency in math fact memorization while exposing students to a wide variety of concepts.   However, it is important to understand that the lesson in the Saxon Text is not the complete lesson. John Saxon designed his course to be taught by an experience Saxon teacher. The lesson in the book is simply a summary of that lesson for the student to review as needed. That's why we created the DIVE video lectures which provide expert instruction for every lesson and investigation.

    Overall a Good Program

    We have used Saxon Math from the beginning. (K - 3) so this Math 5/4 was a comfortable next step. As with their previous curriculum, they ease the student into new learning and circle back to confirm what has already been taught. The only downside is the Fact Practice Tests - they are exactly the same for each series of addition, subtraction, etc. So, after taking the test for a few weeks straight, my daughter has the answers memorized and doesn't need to look at the problem.
