Caution: All students who want to take Shormann Algebra 2, but have not taken geometry, must pass the Algebra 2 Placement Test

The first 25 lessons of Shormann Algebra 2  review all the geometry taught in Shormann Algebra 1. Therefore, a gifted math student who passes the placement test should be able to learn these geometry concepts in the review lessons of Shormann Algebra 2. However, since these concepts will not be review to your student, it may take longer to complete some of these review lessons. As long as you follow the course instructions, the student will not become frustrated or overwhelmed. Before purchasing Shormann Algebra 2 for a student who has not successfully completed at least ½ credit of geometry, they must pass this placement test: Algebra 2 Placement Test.

If my student has not had geometry, but successfully how do I list the credits for Shormann Algebra 2 on a transcript?
Upon completion of Shormann Algebra 2 with Integrated Geometry, the student has earned 1 full credit of Geometry and 1 full credit of Algebra 2. The credits should be listed as follows:

Algebra 2      1 Credit

Geometry      1 Credit

Will Shormann Algebra 2 be too hard?
If the student passes the Algebra 2 placement test (linked above), and follows the course instructions, they should have no problem completing Shormann Algebra 2. However, if you have any reservations, have the student take Shormann Algebra 1. For details about this option see Placement for Shormann Algebra 1. Shormann Math teaches in short "bite-sized" lessons that slowly build on each other to develop complex concepts that are easy to understand. Also, the intensity of the course is easily modified by limiting the amount of time the student spends on math each day. We call this the timed method. Keep in mind, since Shormann Algebra 2 earns 3 semesters of credits (1 credit of Algebra 2 and 1 credit of Geometry), it's okay to take up to three semesters to complete the course.
