1. Parents, Read this first:
- If the last math course your student took was by Saxon, see this article: Saxon Math Users
- A parent or teacher should supervise the test.
- Time Limit: This is a two page test. Allow the student one hour for each page.
- You may want to complete the test over two days. Give page one on the first day and page two on the second day. If that is not possible, allow several hours between page one page and page two.
- If the student misses more than 4 questions on page 1, stop and take page 1 of the Middle School Placement Test
- No calculator and no help from a parent or teacher.
- The student should show all work on a separate piece of paper.
2. Print Pages: Pre-Algebra Placement Test
3. Use the Answer Key at the end of the Placement Test to grade it.
4. Placement Guide:
6th Graders: While normally a 7-9th Grade course, strong math students in 6th grade who get 18 or more correct on each page, are ready to take Shormann Pre-Algebra.
7th Grade & Up:
Sixteen or More Correct in Questions 21-40 & 16 or More Correct in Questions 41-60: Ready for Shormann Pre-Algebra
Fifteen or fewer correct in 21-40 or 41-60 Student is not ready for Pre-Algebra. Take page one of the Middle School Placement Test
